Medical logistics company adds DLA ECAT to grow portfolio, secure approvals to supply federal, state and local entities   

WARWICK, R.I. – CME Corp is pleased to announce that the company has grown its portfolio of government contract offerings by securing a Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Department of Defense contract.

CME’s DLA ECAT contract increases company offerings to include military services including the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps.

Healthcare supply chain professionals are experts at juggling priorities as they face purchasing decisions that impact patients and facility staff in both great and small ways. Considering that U.S. hospitals contribute 8 percent of the total national carbon footprint, the power that supply chain managers wield in reducing environmental impact and increasing the sustainability of healthcare should not be overlooked.

In a peer-reviewed study published in the American Journal of Infection Control, infection data from 12 months before and after the installation of the VidaShield infection prevention system in the special care unit (SCU) of a hospital in Kentucky was analyzed. Overall infection rates were reduced by 60% and the rates of common healthcare-associated infections like Clostridium difficile, CAUTIs and CLABSIs were reduced by more than 60%, despite no reported changes in the amount/type of cleaning done, the infection control protocol or reporting procedures.
