End of Budget Year Equipment Spending: 4 Key Things to Remember

By Cindy Juhas | October 28, 2014

ID-100152574That magical time of year is approaching fast. I am not talking about all of the wonderful holidays in November and December;  I am talking about that crazy time of year when facility administrators and purchasing managers realize they have money left in their budgets and have to spend it or lose it.

CME Corp works tirelessly to make sure we get our customers everything they need by the end of their budget year. Last year, most of our staff worked every day in December (except December 25th), including weekends to assemble and deliver all of the orders we received.

Here are just a few things to remember during this busy budget year end season:

  1. Assess your budget as early as possible - This goes without saying but the earlier you start planning these year-end purchases, the more likely it will happen within the specified time frame.  These kinds of POs usually need to be delivered and received before the end of the budget year.

  2. Get your POs into your distributors/vendors as early as possible - Many manufacturers close their doors for extended periods of times during the holiday season.  There are also many employees that take vacation.  This makes for longer lead times during this season.  If you wait until the last minute, you might not get your product in time.

  3. Think about Logistics - Many hospital employees also take time off during the holidays.  If the equipment you are purchasing is replacing older equipment, you might not have the staff to be able to assemble the new product, remove the old product, deliver the new product and dispose of the old product.  All of this needs to be done when patient traffic is at its slowest.

CME not only can get you your equipment in a timely fashion, but we are extremely versatile and can also provide the logistics involved in getting the job done when you need it done.  We stage, assemble, remove old equipment and deliver the new equipment before 7AM, after 6PM or on the weekends - whatever works for you.

  4. Collaborate with your vendors and be flexible - Talk to your equipment distributor partner as soon as you know you might need some special help for your budget year-end equipment purchases.  It takes a lot of planning to get everything to you by year-end, even if you take advantage of our Direct-to-Site logistics services.

Flexibility is key and everyone needs to be able to make some sacrifices to get the job done.  But all of that sacrifice reaps great rewards. The money is spent, the budget is met, and you are the proud owners of some great new products.
