Healthcare systems have varied long term goals, but most providers want to improve infection control, foster better patient outcomes, and save money. CME and Comfortex can help you do all three.
Hospital mattresses have been targets of The Joint Commission (TJC) during inspections and the FDA in a recent MAUDE (Manufacturer and User Facility Device Experience) adverse event report. Comfortex has pioneered advanced mattress alternatives for nearly 40 years and addressed the issues that plague other mattress manufacturers.
Improve Infection Control
Healthcare mattresses have always been a concern when it comes to infection control. Most healthcare mattress covers are made with breathable, stretch materials. However, patient after patient, the top cover encounters numerous bodily fluids; fluids that should not be allowed to penetrate, or worse, be inhaled through the top fabric resulting in hidden, core contamination.
Lab testing might indicate that the stretch fabric is fluid resistant, but when patient weight and body heat is applied, the pores of this fabric elongate, allowing vaporized fluids to migrate into and build-up within the mattress. Comfortex does not offer stretch fabric covers for that very reason.
Their mattress covers utilize a specially engineered, butyl-backed nylon that has an extremely low Moisture Vapor Transmission (MVT) rating. Comfortex tests each lot of fabric at a local university before using that material in mattress production, and their mattresses have the most protective covers in the industry.
Foster Better Patient Outcomes
Today’s hospital mattresses offer various types of foam or mechanically controlled air systems. An American College of Physicians report recommends the use of an Advanced Static Mattress, as they provide equal or better outcomes than mechanical systems. Comfortex Rest-Q® mattresses are made to distribute pressure effectively, survive years of healthcare conditions, and complement the care Nursing provides.
A German Institute of Health study of patients suffering chronic pain showed that the use of Comfortex mattress resulted in a 24% decrease in pain medication requests and a 43% decrease in call light utilization. In addition, patients using the Comfortex mattress said the product was more comfortable than other mattresses.
Save Money
Many hospital mattresses have a five-year warranty, but tend to exclude their top cover. Comfortex provides a full five-year warranty, including the top cover. Besides being more durable and lasting longer, Comfortex mattresses are budget friendly, often costing less than the bed's original mattress.
Of course, we understand that seeing is believing! Comfortex offers demos, case studies, and test results to further augment their product claims. For more information or a demo, call your CME Account Manager or visit our website.
